Below is a list of objects and activities to avoid during a lightning storm for safety:

• Avoid the outdoors especially wide-open fields
• Stay away from lakes and ponds
• Corded phones should not be used, cellular phones are fine
• Electrical equipment, such as computers, TVs, or cords should not be utilized
• Avoid plumbing. Do not wash your hands, take a shower, or wash dishes
• Stay away from windows, doors, and porches
• Physical contact with concrete floors and walls can cause harm
