Using Heat Safely
Winter is here and keeping you and your family warm and safe in your Struthers home is a top priority. There are a few things you should know this winter to keep your home prepared and warm.
In the event of a power outage have
Extra blankets, sleeping bags, and warm coats
Firewood for the fire place
Kerosene or portable space heaters
Space heater tips
Only use non-glowing heaters and space heaters with an auto shut-off
Keep heaters at least 3 feet away from furniture and water
Don’t leave children unattended by heaters
Generator Safety
Keep electric generators outside and away from air intakes of your home to prevent carbon monoxide poising
Do not use generators or other appliances if they are wet
Keep gasoline outside
Use individual heavy-duty, outdoor-rated cords to plug in other appliances
