On Thursday, June 25, 2020, Lordstown Motors unveiled The Endurance Pickup truck at the Lordstown assembly plant to a crowd of around 300 people. It is the first fully electric pickup truck projected to hit the market in early 2021.
The event featured speeches by the Secretary of Energy, Dan Brouilette, and Vice President Mike Pence. Vice President Mike Pence began his speech by stating, “It really is an honor to be here. To be able to drive up and unveil what will soon be the first fully electric pickup truck on the market in the United States of America. Ladies and gentlemen, I give you the Lordstown Endurance.”
When Lordstown Motors CEO Steve Burns spoke at the event, he alluded to the importance of this kind of innovation for the Midwest and the Mahoning Valley. According to WKBN, Burns stated, “I think people expect this kind innovation to come from the coast. There’s nothing wrong with California, but the Midwest is where cars are made. The Midwest happens to be where the most pickup trucks are sold, and so we thought, why should California have all the fun?” The plant will need to hire a few hundred workers to keep the production timeline up to speed.
Live coverage by the media was available on YouTube, and WKBN 27’s website.
Our marketing department was honored to be able to attend the live event and watch the unveiling first-hand. In an interview with WKBN, SERVPRO Trumbull County owner, Jimmy Dobson stated, “To look at this truck, how it’s put together and the look of it is amazing, how it will perform for us and the efficiencies we’ll get out of it, we’re absolutely excited about it.” Vice President Mike Pence was in the passenger seat, as it was driven on stage.
SERVPRO intends to support the local company and purchase the Endurance truck when it is available in early 2021. We can not wait to see what is next for the Mahoning Valley.
