In the event of a fire, often times our littlest family members are left homeless. While insurance companies care for the family's needs of food and shelter, there is little chance that the pet family members will be considered. There are several things you can do to ensure your pet's safety in the event of an emergency:
- Have ID on your pet's collar, as well as, having them microchipped
- Have a crate to transport your pet
- Secure a friend or family member in advance who will be willing and able to watch your pets in the event of an emergency
- Have current photos of your pet in case they do slip away in all the commotion
- Be sure to have a supply of food, fresh water and a leash for them
- Locate pet friendly hotels in your areas in case your friends/family aren't available.
Pets are part of the family too!
