SERVPRO Delivers Comfort to Fire Stricken Homeowners in Poland, OH

If you have ever experienced the anxiety, devastation, and uncertainty of being in a house fire, you know there are few things more fearful. The smoke, soot and flames attack all areas of the property and likely render it unlivable. The homeowners are left to manage a range of emotions that can only be described as overwhelming.

As firefighters arrive and douse the structure and its contents with water, more damage occurs, and the chance of restoring the property become increasingly difficult. More than likely, the family is forced to come to grips with the idea that their home is at best temporarily unlivable. The thoughts now turn to where will we go.  Hotels? Stay with friends or family? What is the next move?

At SERVPRO of East Mahoning County, our first-responders have seen this scenario quite often and understand and empathize with the homeowner’s feelings of grief and uncertainty.

As firefighters deliver the news that the home will be boarded up, our SERVPRO team is prepared to try and soften the blow and deliver some sense of comfort to the family.

To make things just a little better, SERVPRO has prepared a ‘ready to use’ overnight bags for victims of house fires. They contain necessities such as toothbrushes, toothpaste, blankets, snacks and a soft teddy bear should a child need a friend to cuddle with. Band-Aids, burn cream, face wipes, shampoo, soap and hand-sanitizer are also provided to give those affected an opportunity to heal, relax and unwind.

The sales personnel at SERVPRO of East Mahoning County carry these bags in their vehicles in preparation for an emergency call. We pride ourselves on being on the scene as a first-responder and look to assist, provide comfort, and if necessary, begin the restoration process.
