Believe it or not 2019 is ending and the New Year lies ahead of us. With the new year, comes new goals, plans, and opportunities to prepare. SERVPRO is here to help you make sure your property is not left out of the 2020 preparation.
As a premier provider of professional water restoration services, we often assist property owners who have incurred an extensive amount of water damage in their basements.
These three tips are designed to help you protect your property as we approach the New Year!
- Review your deductible and coverage – make sure that you are adequately covered for services necessary in the event of water damage in your home. You will need mitigation services (the cleaning, drying and removal process), the rebuild (the restructuring of your drywall, flooring and cabinetry), and replacements (for any contents damaged such as furniture or family heirlooms)
- Check your sump pump – review the functionality of your sump pump often. Identifying an broken sump pump and replacing it for a couple of hundred dollars could save you thousands in the long run.
- Store Belongings Securely – any items in your basement that can, should be stored in plastic crates or on shelves. Everything from your children’s schoolwork, to family pictures, heirlooms, and daily products could be compromised in a water disaster. If the water source is Category 3 (contaminated water), then these items would be a total loss in most instances. Having them properly stored can save you a lot in the long run.
Being adequately prepared may ease some of the stress that comes with an unexpected flooded basement. Water issues can be overwhelming! If your property incurs any, call us and we will make it, “Like it never even happened.”
